Phil Reed offers his clients insights and experience from an extensive track-record of policy reform and implementation.
Phil’s work has put him at the coalface of public policy around Australia. He worked in senior roles for Labor Leaders and Premiers in two states. His work included managing the Media Unit for Victorian Premier Steve Bracks, and a critical role as Chief of Staff to the Tasmanian Premier Lara Giddings.
He has also worked in the private sector as Head of Government and Stakeholder Relations for leading national law firm Slater and Gordon, and in his own right has carved out an enviable niche helping businesses and community institutions to navigate the public policy and legislative landscape in different Australian jurisdictions.
Along the way Phil has held Executive Roles at Victoria’s two biggest statutory compensation schemes – WorkSafe Victoria and the Transport Accident Scheme (TAC) - where he was responsible for guiding and implementing significant change in high profile and contentious policy areas, and the delivery of some of Australia’s most iconic behaviour change advertising campaigns.
In addition to his professional roles Phil also served three terms as a local government councillor and Mayor in one of Victoria’s most multicultural communities. In 2020 and 2024 he was Labor’s candidate for Lord Mayor of Melbourne.
Phil has a unique understanding of the context in which government operates. He has developed a deep insight into the intersection between public policy and people and knows how to implement lasting change in a constantly changing environment.
